Closed Issue: Start Menu shortcut naming and placement issues [3823]

1) the Start Menu shortcut for CacheMyWork is named the same as the source icon that I've been using for this project (wi096-16.ico), rather than "Cache My Work" or similar.
2) the Start Menu shortcut for CacheMyWork is located at the root-level of the Start Menu, rather than placed its own subfolder named "Cache My Work" or similar.

Need to examine the Setup project's Start Menu settings for the shortcut - I suspect I just dragged in a reference to the Icon, without trying to pretty up the name or location.

Rated 3 Stars (out of 5) - Mike - I don't get it - seems like the same default-none-selected as before, isn't it?...I'd want to have this app a) START for me automatically every time I boot up, and b) restore ALL my running software by default - just let me unselect anything I don't want to restart after a crash, if for some reason that software offendeth...I can't think of any reason I'd not want everything to restart.

I went back to your site to see what's new - looks like you did some work & maybe cracked a developer-nut, if my non-dev translation makes any sense, that is. But even if no big changes, I was going to reinstall the old version, I think it is (1.2) - but I can't get either that or the alpha 2.0 to start downloading. Some tube is blocked, I suppose?

Get version 2.0 going and I will invest $8 billion in your startup...

Rated 3 Stars (out of 5) - It's not functioning, so impossible to test. Since the menus don't open I can't see if there are new options that I need/like I would like to see the following options: 1) select programs ones that will never be cached 2) a select all button for the programs that are listed 3) a possibility that the program automatically starts and caches programs that I've indicated one to always be cached

In fact, based on my research, I'm beginning to believe that the only way to accomplish this is to install application-specific add-ins that scrape the inner "state" of the app's documents and caches that as well. I believe that's a hopeless pursuit.

I'm running version 1.2.0.0.

When I run the application, a Microsoft .NET Framework unhandled exception window with the content at the end of the message pops up.The file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\PCCMFLPD.exe" in fact doesn't exist in that location, but it does exist in "C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\PCCMFLPD.EXE". This is also the location where it is referenced in the registry. (This is Windows XP 64-bit.)

Installation seems to have completed normally. The only odd thing is that in the Start menu, there are two entries: one for Cache My Work, another for an icon wi0096-16.ico.

When I click on "Continue" in the exception dialog, I see the application window with an empty client area (no applications listed) and the CacheMyWork splash window. I can close the app window through menu File > Exit, but the splash window stays. Only by killing the process CacheMyWork.exe can I get rid of it.

I know you're working on a new version, but is there anything I can do to make this work?

Created Issue: Add ProcessID tracking to EnumeratedProcess object [15125]

ProcessID isn't currently being tracked, and while this hasn't been needed information before, it's something that will become much more useful in a future where this tool can run in the background (or be scheduled for periodic runs), and automatically flush the current workload of apps to RunOnce.

I believe that the best way for CacheMyWork to do this is to compare the current state of processes to the previously-gathered cache, and only add the new ones to the Registry. How can you know if an instance of IEXPLORE.EXE is new or old? Compare the PIDs.

When I run the code on my well-populated system, the checklist is around 15-17 items long. This expands beyond the size of the default window, and the default window doesn't auto-size. Make window auto-size to show all rows and button.
